The critical enabler for combat power projection sails on a sealift force that faces significant readiness challenges and in recognized need for recapitalization. Once able to sail uncontested, the sealift force also faces resilience challenges to operating in a contested environment, creating new challenges and opportunities. This panel will focus on what is being done to improve readiness and resilience to be able to deliver combat power from the Nation’s power projection platforms.
The Navy’s remotely operated systems transcend domains to redefine the battlespace. These systems take the concept of distributed maritime operations to the next level for distributed lethality. The panel will discuss how these systems influence strategy and tactics for the warfighter and commanders at sea and ashore.
What does “right” look like? The Gen. David Berger’s “Commandant’s Planning Guidance” emphasizes the Marine Corps will be a naval expeditionary force-in-readiness, with a focus on operational integration. Panelists will discuss how the Navy and Marine Corps are adapting technology and shifting processes to meet the demand and provide the capabilities necessary for “Great Power Competition” today.
How does the Marine Corps best contribute to national defense and the joint force? How is the Marine Corps accelerating its pace of change to meet the demands of the future operating environment? What will the Marine Corps focus on in order to meet these challenges?
As naval aviation continues to transform its fleet with advancing future warfighting capabilities, it has successfully been tackling readiness barriers and warfighting degraders. Panelists will discuss how the Navy and Marine Corps are overcoming the challenges of maintaining and evolving the fleet.
